A committed choice
Among the many orphanages in Kathmandu, several of which are funded by large international associations, the HCC orphanage in Kathmandu attracted our attention for several reasons.
First of all, its human scale, in line with our aid possibilities. But above all, its values: strong ethics, unfailing transparency and sincere care for the children. Founded by a simple couple deeply touched by the distress of children abandoned after the terrible earthquake of 2015, HCC embodies an authentic and inspiring commitment.
An orphanage on a human scale, founded on solid values
The HCC orphanage operates like a big family. Its light structure and transparent operation enable effective and direct aid. Here, every child counts. Far from impersonal institutional models, HCC encourages a close, trusting and caring relationship.
The situation in Kathmandu remains difficult for many street children, often victims of natural disasters, abandonment or social misery. In this unstable environment, children are particularly vulnerable, exposed to violence and abuse.
The orphanage provides them with a protective environment, healthy food, regular schooling and, above all, a stable and caring place to live.
Providing a safe home for vulnerable children in Kathmandu
Today, the children at the HCC orphanage are aged between 3 and 17. Some have been growing up here for several years, while others have just arrived, still looking for their bearings. Among them, several siblings have been able to stay together, and these family ties are preserved with particular care.
Each child has a unique story to tell. Some have lost a parent, others come from families living in very precarious conditions, unable to guarantee their safety. At HCC, they find more than just a place to stay: they find a real home, a place where they can regain their confidence, dignity and the impetus to build a future.
